In 2009 I took a funeral policy at FNB with the piece of mind that should myself or my husband pass away, we will be covered. Well... that was not the case. My husband passed away on the 23rd of May 2013. I went to my branch on the 24th of May, where I opened my account - Welkom - and a lady by the name of Rene Smith helped me. She phoned Head Office - life cover department and the person she spoke to confirmed that my funeral policy is active and that it will pay an amount of R10 000 within 48 hours if I submit a
ll the necessary documents. She was very helpful and gave me a list of the documents I had to submit.
I took the necessary documents in that same afternoon. On Wednesday - a day after my husbands funeral - Rene phoned me to tell me that they made a mistake When I took the policy in 2009, my husband was to old and for some reason the system did not reject the policy. But for 4 years nobody picked up that my husband was to old. Only when it had to pay out.if it was a new policy, i will understand, but 4 years??? FNB please honor this policy, Your representatives assured me that the policy will pay out. Now all of a sudden, it wil not!!! We had a contract. Help me please?
