I opened up a funeral policy for my cousin. Now she's lying on her death bed & after phoning the call centre, I was advised that firstly I need to obtain her approval to get copy of the policy & secondly, If I want to claim, I need to go to court to obtain a letter of authority in order for the funds to be transferred to my account. What puzzles me, I opened the policy, I am paying the monthly religiously every month & now, how on earth do I get her to go to court to obtain these documents or her signature to forward me the policy document. I am in need of serious discussion with someone senior at Absa as this agent told me she cant help me. Besides this, I took this policy out in good faith that should my cousin one day pass on, her funeral will at least be covered. But now how will I get the same in place should she pass on and how will the funeral parlour be paid. To think I went to a reputable company for insurance instead of any tom & harry around the corner who you cant trust. If I can't claim from this policy then I would like a refund of all my installments paid to date in order to pay for the funeral immediately
