I had lodged a complaint more than a week ago regarding Absa allowing anyone with a bogus debit order to access my account. i have spent many hours over the past years standing in queues in order to reverse said debit orders. Absa sent me a contact number via sms the day after my complaint had appeared on hellopeter.
I stupidly called this number - only to be kept waiting and finally been promised that an agent will call me. It took her two days to get around to it. We spoke for all of 15 seconds when the connection was lost. I have not heard from Absa since then. Most customers will baulk at having a R99 debit order reversed by paying R49. Do the math to figure who is laughing all the way to the bank. Certainly not the clients of Absa who have paid their dues - dishonesty pays in SA.
