This is not the first time that African Bank have taken it upon themselves to debit my bank account early! In December, they decided it was ok to take money from my account 11 days prior to the agreed debit order date, because according to them, most people get paid early in December!
Was great waking up this morning to see that they had deducted a repayment from my account early, despite the fact that I had not been paid yet! Any reputable institution will notify you should their be a need to make an early deduction and any decent South African company will deduct the money on the next working day, should you debit order fall on a non-working day.
I am lucky enough to have the funds, but don't envy those who are now saddled with the costs of debit order rejections... it is disgraceful to take money out of someone's account on a date that you have not authorised nor been informed of.
