I am a practising advocate and have been trying in vain to extract information from Absa on a policy that was taken out by my father-in-law, Mr J Momberg. The policy was originally issued by Southern, later taken over by Momentum and the policymumber is SX009453030. The policy was ceded to Absa for security at a stage, but Absa advised Momentum in writing on 31 January 2013 that it has no interest in the policy and that the cession is cancelled. Despite this, it was established that the policy was surrendered on 1 March 2003 and the upbringing of the policy paid to Absa. Numerous e-mails for the past 2 months have been sent to Absa requesting a reconciliation and an explanation as to why the policy was surrendered by them, but to no avail. Even threats of legal action have had no impact. Do I really have to approach the High Court with this???
