I took out a loan with FNB less than a year ago. The repayment was worked out over 5 years. On the 29th of April 2013 I settled the loan & paid in slightly more than the outstanding balance. After going to the branch to close the account I was told the waiting time to see a consultant is 2 hrs. I decided that the cellphone banking might be quicker. The consultant I spoke to assured me the account will be closed but could not confirm that my loan was actually in a positive balance, she could only see that the loan balance is R0. I realised i might not get my refund & went home to do a "screen dump" of the account on my internet banking. This week i called the cellphone banking department again-as once again there was an hour waiting time to be able to see a consultant-& spoke to Andrea Du Plessis who confirm a refund due to me less than the over payment i've made. I've asked her for a breakdown on the cost charged FOR CLOSING A LOAN 4 YEARS EARLIER than the initial repayment term. She then asked me to send her the "screen dump" & she'll be in contact. Till date the account have at least been closed but no refund has been paid back to me nor have i recieved feedback on the cost charged
