First National Bank
3 MONTHS TO GET A DEBIT ORDER FACILITY OPERATIONAL

In February our school requested online banking facilities for payments and collection of debit orders. Our school has changed its name and opened a new bank account in the new name. We needed to change over to the new account. We also asked for data (names and banking details of customers and suppliers on the "old" account) so we could import the information rather than manually capture hundreds of records.

We complied with all necessary admin and on 8 Feb, the system was installed at a cost of R526.00. They told us it would take about a week to get everything operational. On the same day they sent me a data file, but it was the wrong one (data from an unrelated private bank account!) I am still waiting for the correct data. The payments system was working a week later, but three months later, the debit order facility was still not available. I have called and emailing repeatedly, have escalated the complaint to head office, requested action and an apology, but little action follows. We are still using our old bank account for most payments and all debit orders. I can't imagine how a new business would manage if they did not have an existing bank account to use in the interim.
