4 years ago I took out a loan with FNB (smart loan) of R15 000, 3 days later I paid back R6000 so the outstanding balance was R9000, I made a few payments and somehow a mistake happend and they never received the rest of the money. After 4 years after no phone calls, letters, emails or any form of communication, I get a phonecall from FNB's attorneys to inform me that I now owe them - R27 000 which includes interest of 4 years! Now this account has been prescribed, so legally I don't owe them anything, but I am willing to neogiate an amount which my lawyer did. But their lawyers are so sneaky and just out to get you. They send you a letter to say that yes they will except x amount - but it's never the FINAL payment - because once you pay it, they will come after you again and expect you to pay their legal fees as well. I would like FNB legal to phone me please and let's sort this out without any lawyers. My wife is with FNB as well as my in-laws and after this, they will all remove their accounts from FNB and move to another bank. I think it's disgusting the way I've been treated by FNB - when all I'm trying to do is to sort this out.
