I phoned Wesbank on Tuesday 7 May Settlements Dept. to obtained settlement amount and confirm payment arrangements and what reference for electronic payment is required. I also requested this to be confirmed on email. This information was received promptly which was most appreciated. I then tried for about an hour to create a beneficiary to process payment. Whichever option I tried, there was no way I could create the beneficiary. Message "Invalid beneficiary reference" I went to Standard Bank and they tried for about an hour. They mentioned that this was a common problem with Wesbank, and could not help me. I phoned Wesbank Settlements Dept. on Friday 10 May 09:53 and Yolanda asked which bank I was paying from and straight away she mentioned that the reference # was too long and that I should use the old number. Why did this not happen on my first call. Would certainly have saved a lot of time, money & frustration. I have been a loyal client for over 30 years and cannot believe that something so simple about what bank is not a standard question. Very disappointed with Wesbank, will definitely have an impact on future business.
