The reception and data coverage I get from MTN is pathetic. At home, I have no signal at all (even though this is in Sandton where signal should be excellent), when I do get a little bit of signal, edge and 3G is non-existent. When friends come over to visit, they have full signal and can make calls anywhere in my house and browse the internet without any issues, I've tested this with Cell C and Vodacom on the same handset as mine. When at work at STD Bank in Constantia Valley on 14th avenue (yes, within 1km of MTN's head offices) I have a little bit of reception but no data coverage at all. I can't read my email, I can't make any financial transactions, I can't even use Google unless I take a walk up the mountain behind STD Bank. This is unacceptable, to be the largest and probably the most profitable network in Africa and you can't even provide your customers with proper network coverage in the main areas of your own country. But hey, let's rather focus on LTE (which seems useless to me at this time) and spending cash in other countries than on our customers that made it possible for us to grow this big. I'm not even going to try the call centre, I'm done with call centres.
