In September 2012, I made a booking on the Shosholozameyl for my wife and daughter from Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth on the 9th December 2012. I requested for a 2 berth coupe as my wife is a cancer patient and cannot be exposed to any conditions that might affect her health, as she has a very low immune system. The person who confirmed my booking confirmed that my wife and daughter will be accommodated in a 2berth coupe. We located the printed layout in one of the compartments. We then found the assigned compartment and moved in. After a while, to our dismay, two more ladies arrived with their luggage and parcels. My wife was very upset! Subsequently, I then found the train manager. The response from the train manager was most rude, arrogant and unbecoming of a person of his position. The train was delayed by hours, this forced me to make new arrangements to fetch them at Port Elizabeth station, a very costly exercise. The other passengers had a number of luggage and parcels which they placed on the floor and on the bed, THIS FORCED MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER TO SHARE A BED!!!
