What a sham. This happened to me last year, and I reported it to SAA but never received a response. Now I again booked a flight for my family on SAA (using Chrome, as Safari can't open their website on a Mac!!), the booking goes through only for me to receive a cancellation email a couple of minutes after the confirmation email. The reason?
"Your credit card cannot be accepted for payment on SAA.
This happened with 2 different credit cards from 2 different banks. When I called the SAA call center, I was informed that my card triggered a flag because I was booking for more than one person. So a dad booking flights for himself, his wife and 2 children - all bearing the same surname, which is also the surname on the credit card - is considered a risk.
What a bunch of amateurs. Would love to see if SAA would survive a month without government help. If you can't take online bookings on your website, then you really have to start asking some serious questions.
