Asking for credit card details to be faxed

I made an online booking on Flightsite as it seemed a legitimate site with all the accreditation, proper credit card payment site etc. However once I had completed my booking and payment details I received a confirmation that said it was not for travel and that I would be receiving my e-ticket within 36 hours once payment to the airline had been made. Promptly after leaving the site my credit card was debited with their service fee of just over R300.00. I had an uneasy feeling as I still did not have a ticket confirmation. My uneasy feeling was confirmed the next morning when I received an e-mail from them saying they need me to fax copy of my passport and FRONT AND BACK OF MY CREDIT CARD - well I have sent an e-mail back saying I definately won't be doing that and will be booking through SAA direct and if they are legitimate I suggest they fall in line with other online secure sites. It is only 8.05 but there is only an answering machine replying to their call centre number saying office hours begin at 8.00. I will post any further developments but for now remain very cautious if you are booking tickets online. I am just hoping there is no way they can debit further payments.
