Unused ticket and no way to change it

On 20/12/12 I bought 2 return tickets from Lanseria to Dbn. One was in my name, the other was in MM's name. Due to circumstances beyond our control, MM was unable to make the trip. Apparently, I, the purchaser of the tickets have mp way to take over the ticket.

MM has no use for a plane ticket at this stage and will not have during the 6 month period, until the ticket expires. In 2010, when I was unable to make a flight, I was given the option to sell the ticket. Now, it's MM's use or nothing.

I understand the policy changed, but I think this is very unethical, as this is R1100 - that I paid- that will just be pocketed by Kulula.
