NO SEAT ON PLANE WHEN I PAID 9 MONTHS BEFORE

On arriving at King Shaka International Airport on 4th December, well within the 2 hour required time, I joined the queue to obtain my boarding pass.

My granddaughter and I were put aside and asked to wait as our boarding passes were not yet available. Once ALL OTHER pasengers had gone through, we were told that there were no seats available.

When I refused to accept this (the next day was my 60th birthday and I would be celebrating with 3 generations at a West End Show) a kind couple gave up their seats for us.

1. Why was I chosen - grey hair, UK passport and grandchild with me?
2. who gave them the right to tell me I had no seat when I had paid 6 months ahead and reserved a seat at least 3 months ahead?
3. When my daughter-in-law complained she was told that to confirm a seat we were supposed to book in on line - why, doesn't paying for a ticket, well within time, confirm a seat?

Absolutely horrified at the treatment and the attitude of the staff.
We have complained to their call centre and in writing but they have not yet had the decency to respond and tell me what they plan on doing to discipline staff.
