Won't refund me my money

Called the helpdesk to get a refund on my ticket I bought from Johannesburg to Cape Town because I wanted to cancel and get a refund back. They told me I can't get a refund because I didn't cancel within 48 hours. Now firstly I didn't know about the 48 hour period and second I called two hours late. Two hours! No one these days have 600 rand to throw down the drain!! That's money I wanted to use to buy food for the house!
