I booked my flight to the Cape Argus months ago. I specifically compared bicycle policies. At the time, Kulula mentioned that a bike, if in a box and under 20 kg, would fly free. as part of the normal luggage as long as there's no other bags. I clarified that with an agent, and here's her reply:
" The message on the website means that if your bike is your one check-in item, it may be carried for free as your then only have a carry-on item at 7kgs. This is what it means."
Except that yesterday I got a message that because I am going down for the Argus, the normal policy will not apply, and I will have to pay R300 per sector for the bike.
This was NOT the conditions on the ticket that I bought. Mango's site mentions the cost per bike per sector. There was NO indication that bikes would cost extra. No hint whatsoever.
This is a breach of contract.
