Unacceptable service! SAA totally inefficient!

I tried to upgrade my infants ticket to a child seat for an international flight. i was quoted R6200; I was advised to go to the airport to make the change, but was refused the ticket. A new price was given of approx R7000 that I was not willing to pay, seeing that my travel agent called the day before & got a reference number (4N6QNL) with all of the notes being on the system. I spoke to the manager on duty, Mohlaba Maringa, and he refused to assist me, only saying that I must take it up with the call centre.
The ticket was being held for me as the call centre agent was not able to complete the booking over the phone. I had 48 hrs to go to the airport to pay. I went the next day. There's a difference in just making an enquiry & actually having a hold on the ticket. Its not any fault of mine that the SAA systems are not linked & able to do what they they are supposed to - book tickets! Its quite ludicrous that a call centre and a front office of the same company have diff charges for the same service. The service received was atrocious. No one offered any help or resolution. All of this occurred early September. I am still awaiting a response from customer care.
