We booked the lodge for my husband's 40th and invited guests from accross the country. The views were stunning as on the website pictures and all went well until Saturday. Firstly the male employee responsible for the gardens and I guess the upkeep and gate accused our guests of not closing the lodge gate. Throughout the day various people went in and out of the property without any entrance control - our guests found the gate left wide open and some of the animals nearly escaped. Sunday morning when we woke just after 6 the lodge had no water. When the employees pitched at 7 and we informed them of this it was clearly no surprise to them. And they had all clearly washed/showered where they stayed - so all the guests were left without water. Our guests had to leave the lodge for Joburg and their flights back to Cape Town without even being able to shower. That's after we had to pay 5 star rates. The top wooden cabins were worse than saunas with no fans never mind aircon. The plastic showers are peeling and horrific. The employees also clearly felt no need for soap in all the bathrooms and no shampoo or soap were replaced during our weekend stay.
