The company does not want to cancel my contract

The company does not want to cancel my account even after sending them my details showing them that I can no longer afford the service. They keep debiting and sometime I cant pay and now I'm served with lawyer letters demanding that I pay amount I owe. I fail to understand why they cant cancel my account cause they can see I cant afford
