Refund for cancelled flight - 8 weeks late

My flight BA6242 from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg on 31 March 2013 at 13h30 was cancelled. I phoned BA on 8 April 2013 on 2711 441 8600 to request a refund because the flight was cancelled. On this day I was told that the refund will be requested and that I can expect a refund within 6-8 weeks.
Having duly waited for 8 full weeks, and expecting a refund no later than 3 June 2013, I phoned BA today to enquire because I have not yet received the promised refund. Today I was told by a Comair representative that unbeknown to me I initially spoke to someone at BA International, and that they never passed on the request for a refund. It was not clear why this has happened, but it was becoming clear to me that I would have to restart the refund request process, which (in splendid bureaucratic fashion!) would take another 6-8 weeks. I then phoned BA International, who told me that they have been in touch with Comair, who advised that they will not refund because the flight was not cancelled! I assure you that it was in fact cancelled, and I am extremely displeased about now having to deal with a question about whether the flight was cancelled or not. I just want a refund
