Mtn - Samsung Galaxy S4 - New Contract - Be Warned

I went to MTN and Vodacom this morning to get new contracts (made sure I was there first to prevent the rush). MTN made me fill in all the forms etc. for the new Galaxy S4 and submitted the application, only after this they tell me that it will take approx. 72 hours for approval, but they won't keep the phone out for you for this time.

Vodacom's (not for S4) approval "Sorry sir - it can take 2 hours" - and after 1.5 hours I had approval and a new phone.

NOW HOW ON EARTH CAN ONE COMPANY GET APPROVAL IN < 2 HOURS AND THE OTHER IN 72 - ONE GETS APPROVAL FOR BUYING A CAR IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS?

From what I can see is that MTN (or store) do this deliberately with the S4 as there are limited stocks. If an upgrade customer comes in they give them the new S4 (I saw a couple of them). Meanwhile they got you in a new contract now and after 72 hours they can just ring you and say that the contract has been approved, but they ran out of stock, and you will have to wait until Samsung release a new batch - very clever.

A nice new phone is supposed to be a fun experience, but once again MTN makes this easy process a nightmare - my advice - if you can go for Vodacom or CellC.
