I applied for a new contract with MTN and was told that I could keep my old number (number for life). After receiving my phone, I experienced problems with activation, I eventually went through to an MTN store and was told that my contract was still to go through the FICA process, which I did there and then. I mentioned that I want to keep my number where I was sent to another MTN store or to call MTN direct. Eventually, after getting hold of someone at MTN direct, I was told that it was too late to process the number for life option.
The reason why I would like to keep my number for life is because everything runs through that number, business will be lost if that number is not kept. This was the selling point from MTN, specifically that I am able to port my number.
No one can help me. All that is said is that it is impossible to get this process going. I cannot accept this, why then advertise to switch to MTN and keep your number?
This is in contravention of the CPA, I wasn't given the full idea. Please get someone to contact me to cancel the contract, or to fix your nonsense.
Am I being treated this way because I'm a small fish against the large corporates?
