Number ported from Vodacom but activation delayed

I applied for a contract for MTN and after 3 days received the phone with a sim card, on the day i applied I asked the sales person (Vusi Dube) to port my number from vodacom (0763652782) to MTN as soon as he hung up, MTN sent a message as confirmation that the port request has been approved on 3/10/13 and is ready for Port activation. Since then nothing has happened, I have been calling mtn customer service and being transferred from on department to another for a week now, with no explanation as to why my vodacom number is still under vodacom. I have not yet inserted the sim card that came with the phone as i am afraid this might halt the process as I am still waiting for "port activation", this process is not supposed to be over 24 hours but yet here I am, with a new phone i cannot use because my number has not been ported. Could I please get assistance to speed up the process?? I really hoped I had not made the wrong choice in porting to mtn but this has left a sour taste in my mouth.
