I am under contract with mtn and lost my phone but knew that I still had to continue paying it inspite of losing it. I was paying monthly and my statement I receive them via email monthly 2 days before the due payment date. Last year August 25th I failed to honour the payment. On the required date and only paid in September and made a double payment and I paid the exact amount which was outstanding as per my statement and after that my payments were continuous, then in november I called them about my upgrade and they told me that my account is with legal but did not explain why. Then in January I went to the MTN in Maponya mall for an upgrade they allowed me to do so & it was a success. In March my bank informed me that I'm Blacklisted but I did not understand and they told me that MTN Listed me last year Sept 2012 for default for august & indeed was listed with no communication of any sort from them, when I call the legal depatment of mtn I got one very rude lady named nobuhle tshabalala who dropped the phone twice not wanting to assist me then I asked for manager Shane williams who was always never available & also spoke to Happy Simelane who also failed to answer my emails.
