Faulty phone not due to my use lost warrenty 7 mon

HI

I bought a Blackberry Bold 9900 last August. After 8 weeks the phone gave me problems already I mailed phoned but they were not willing to give a replacement phone and due to I am in a medical field I need my phone for emails ect. I handed this in on the 16 March. No info given I called this morning to hear I need to pay R5098 for liquid damaged and I have no warrenty anymore after having this phone 7 months but warrenty is 24 months. Strangly I have never dropped or had liquid damage is this a money making racket as I havent even gotten a quote not even a notice for me to let me know that my phone is estimate quote for this much??? I HAVE NEVER HAD LIQUID DAMAGE IN MY LIFE. I NEED THIS FIXED UNDER WARRENTY AND PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAILS THIS STARTED JUST AFTER I GOT THE PHONE IF YOU CHECK YOUR RECORDS JOB number 8696703 How do I check this as I am 10000 percent sure no liquid steam what so ever damage i had problems 8 weeks after i bought this already which i mailed and phoned about. Now i lost my warrenty is this really such a bad phone??? Please assist me or is it possible that since i handed this in there was liquid damage after I handed this in
