In December 2012 while I was overseas on holiday I lost my credit card which I subsequently blocked. As my Vodacom debit order was not going to go through, I tried changing my credit card details online but the Vodacom system would not allow me to. Nor did it give me any meaningfull error message. I kept trying and the only thing it would accept was my cheque account details which I then loaded.
When I got back to South Africa and got my replacement credit card, I contacted Vodacom (Spoke to Sandy ref Ref S3-SHX20-02-D1G) to change my debit order back and they refused. They said if it is on a cheque account I am not allowed to change it back. I tried explaining to the agent that it was on my credit card and she then agreed to log my request for someone (in accounts?) to look at. The next day I got an sms from Luncanan Ogle stating that it cannot be changed.
Minus five points to Vodacom for putting beaurocracy before customer service!
