Shocking!

On 05/02 Telkom installed my land & ADSL lines. I ordered uncapped 4mg ADSL. For the next few days I had internet (albeit slow). I left on 08/02 for a weekend in Durban & returned on 11/02 around 9pm. I tried to connect to the internet but it was down. At around 10pm I tried to call the elusive 24hr helpline that Telkom claim to have. No one answered & I got a voice prompt saying that they were closed. I proceeded to call Telkom for the next few days, mostly late at night as that is when I get home. No one answered. This was rather frustrating & I decided to cancel my service as it was not what I signed up for. I was under the impression that I would firstly have internet, at the speed that I signed up for, with the all important 24hr helpline as I'm rarely home within business hours.

On 18/02 I went to the Telkom office in Rosebank & asked them to please cancel my service as it hasn't been working & I see no point in having it. I was told it would be cancelled and I heard nothing from them until yesterday 18/03 (a month later!) They have now advised that I'm tied in to a 24 month contract & I'd have to pay penalties! I find this ridiculous as I canc
