No refund on car charge

I purchased a car charger from vodacom chatz at the woodmead mall.
The charger was faulty so I went to return it! A 40km drive from my home
Only to be told the manager was late for work and he was only person that could do the refund so I said I would be back later. I returned again later that day and the manager was there (stinking of alcohol) he informed me that vodacoms policy was not to give refunds on any producs (the receipt states no refund on or exchanges on handsets) this is a phone charger so I want my money back. I could have argued till I was blue in the face but the incompetent man would probably call security.
I have since been told by another vodacom store that this statement on the receipt is no longer allowed to be there and as I didn't sign a contract it wouldn't apply to ne anyway.

SO I WANT MY MONEY BACK the store did give me an alternative product but its principle
It has cost me more in fuel to the mall and I'm not happy
