I took a new contract with MTN in Sept 2012 under the impression that I would be billed R1.80 per minute. This rate was quoted by the sales consultant (Miss Nicky Crompton) at Blue Chip Cellular in Benoni (have written proof). I later discovered that I was being billed R2.85 per minute and also billed for other costs such as Blackberry Internet fees when I had a Samsung phone and never subscribed to the Blackberry service. Ms Crompton resigned within days of my bringing the matter to her attention.

I contacted Blue Chip on several occasions (in writing) and went to the store to enquire about the incorrect rate being billed. I was informed that they (Blue Chip cellular) were unable to change the contract and that it was also not possible to upgrade to another package.
There was no other alternative other than to cancel the contract - which I have been trying to do since November 2012 . Blue Chip Cellular / MTN are in my opinion in breach of agreement.

It was only recently (February 2013) that I finally received an answer from Blue Chip cellular in Benoni who informed me that I must pay the cancellation costs - even though their sales lady made the error.
