Someone has my identity and went around to open accounts around the country, and this has since been reported to the relevant parties.
It has been over a year now that I have alerted Mtn about this issue since I was receiving billing statements from them and I know I have not opened or activated any contract with Mtn.
I must say it was a long tedious process to find the relevant department that could handle this issue, since finding them I sent the legal Mtn Department all the relevant documentation which I listed below:
1 Affidavit from the Police
2.Certified Copy of my ID book
Since this is an Identity issue, I have since been extra careful who I share my information with.
I am constantly being bombarded with text messages and calls by a legal firm that claims to be debt collectors for Mtn but fail give me the proof that they are indeed working on behalf of Mtn.
They keep requesting me to forward the documents (which contain my personal details) over to them without proof or a signed document stating their relationship with Mtn.
I have asked them to contact Mtn and request the documentation I sent them and I am told they cannot do that, which to me is suspicious.
