New sim card but number in use

Dear Hellopeter,
I bought a new vodacom sim card and rica'd it last week and I got a new number but only to find out moments later that the number is being used by someone else. I am getting sms's and calls from people I don't know asking for their friend from eastern cape I think. When I called vodacom and on 04.03.2013 17:20 and spoke to Shelley Ndlovu she said I must buy a new sim card so I can get a new number of which I refused to do so because when I bought the card I didn't get the number same time I had to rica it in order to get the number which means they can change the number from their system without me having to buy a new card of which I will never do coz I've already bought one and they gave me an in-use number and that's their fault not mine but they saying I must buy a new card even if it costs R0.99 still I won't buy it because they wouldn't have learnt from their mistakes I would have just made their job easier and lost another R1. Please help
