Cancel Contract

I had a contract with MTN that came to an end in December/January. I called the customer service number because i don't want to upgrade as i am currently unemployed. At that number i was given another number and every time got cut off. I them logged in on to MTN website and sent an e-mail and got an e-mail back withing an hour and i must say that was excellent feedback. My problem and frustration now is that why am i not being informed as to when will the contract be cancelled? On their feedback it only says that "The correspondence has been logged with the cancellation team for attention". I feel someone has to contact me and update me of what is happening with this account. I don't want to be hold responsible for something i reported. I cant continue paying R280.00 with an old phone as i did not upgrade and not going to do so soon. Can someone please give me feedback with regards to this matter. I must also say that the Customer Service line are NOT so helpful. I really need to get this over and done with as soon as possible. Hope MTN finds this in order and assist me. If there is money owed by myself to MTN i am willing to pay that in full so that the contract can be cancelled.
