Changed to pre paid without my explicit permission

Been MTN client for ages. Recently had shocking signal from MTN (in office). Reported to MTN -told to buy equipment to boost signal. MTN aware of bad signal at my office -can do nothing about it. Vodacom had good signal at office-I decided to move. Mail sent to Mtn explaining and informing I wish to cancel service end Feb 2013-I wanted to migrate my number to Vodacom. Around the 6th Feb 2013 went to MTN the Glen. Popped in between appointments-waited in the queue-after being called, was referred to lady dealing with retentions.By now some time had passed- I was becoming impatient waiting for lady to attend me. Eventually I explained I wanted to confirm mail was received by MTN- without a word, she dialled someone, handed me phone-still silent. Lady on line explained cancellation=lose R1600 minutes. I was impatient-anxious by now -said I would return and cancel at month end. Next thing I was on pre-paid. Went back to enquire - was livid-spoke to person in retentions who was most unhelpful. I went to Vodacom arranged to port number. Cannot because it's prepaid number now. This is serious as I need number for my clients to contact me It is core to my business. Most unhelpful-no interest.
