Request to cancell my contract

I have spoken to my consultant who has been signing me on for - 6-8 years onto ongoing contracts. I have come to a point where i went into financial strain and requested for my contract to be cancelled off due to affordability. As per CPA i am aware that i can do such and will be liable for a percentage of the total outstanding billing payable. This should total to 30%. I even called the call centre and was told that if i cancel i must pay the full total payable for the remainder of the term. I have made further enquiries on this matter via legal resources and was legally advised that i should be liable to pay a fee but a percentage of the total bill as what it should be. This is not on and i want this resolved asap
