Vodacom
Vodacom as Insurance company

I have my phone insured by Vodacom, I dropped it in the sink.

Knowing that with first claim there is 10% (minimum R300) excess fee (R500 extra water damage), I decided to let it dry out. It didn't, I haven't had the time to start a claim until January this year because I first had to take it to a repair center to have them write a letter (costing R60) that the phone is irreparable.
what followed from the claim on the 28/01/2013

Finally getting through they said they will respond within 24 hours. They did not, on the 4th we sent a letter mandating me to handle the claim as the owner left over seas. 12th Feb I phoned and was told they left a voice message on the contact number given, not understanding what mandate means because she said they never got a letter saying that the contact number changed,

Syman tics aside, the claim has been denied because the SIM card was used in another phone, and they insure the cellphone with the SIM. Well I still have the SIM and the Phone so what is the problem. Should I have not used another phone because the budget didn't allow for a claim on the spot.

Already Talked to the Ombudsman to hear what can be done
