Vodacom
Insurance undercove

My E72-1 phone was lost/, reported it as such. The book value of the phone when I bought it was about R5k, now the book value is about R3.5k.

Vodacom tells me that they are only paying R2, 5k when I ask why they tell me that I didn't upgrade my insurance on the phone that I took in 2006. Mind you this was the third upgrade with this service provider.

I told them that the consulted who assisted me when I did my third upgrade in 2010 asked me if I would like to continue with the insurance on the phone, I said yes.

The call centre consultant tells me that I did not specify that I want insurance to be increased accordingly.

My question was where on earth did a normal person would buy a product and insure it below the market value? The answer was it is my responsibility to see that the product is fully covered, then we went onto an argument about whose responsibility it was. However I maintain my point how could they insure a product below the market value? Any insurance company will tell you the value of the product and the cover or payout thereof should anything happen. Why did they sell me the insurance at the first place if they don't know what they r doing?
