Sony Xperia - 2 days old and unfixable problem???

I applied and opened a Vodacom account with Vodashop Wonderpark. The sales consultant, Edwin, gave me information on the new Sony Xperia. I did enquire if I was able to operate BB and watsup from the phone, he said yes, the phone is compatible. He said that there is a 7 day come back period, if there is any problems on the phone, I can bring the phone in and I will receive a new replacement phone immeadiately.
I had 2 people with me when I was told the terms and conditions above.

I received my phone the Friday and took it back to Vodashop Wonderpark on the Sunday as my phone kept freezing, rainbow stripes across the screen, sounds like a clock running inside the phone and then it shuts off. On taking the phone back, 2 days later, Edwin says that he never said the above, although I had witnesses with me. He then said, the phone now has to be sent to vodacom repairs in midrand so that the phone can be checked.

It is now day 10 of repairs, and I have just been advised by Rupert at vodacom midrand that I have to deal with a handset which is doing the above, as BB and watsup in all of a sudden NOT applications that work well on the Sony Xperia.

This is unacceptable!
