Telkom Cancellation policy

I connected a Telkom ADSL line on the 28th Jan 2014. I currently have a dect phone with them as well. I fetched my modem from telkom store on 31st Jan as the Telkom tech did not give me modem when he installed line.
I requested to the store to cancel my existing line as i have now connected the new line. On Monday the 3 Feb 2014 I phoned to confirm cancellation and they say i need 30 days notice. I told them that I have a new line and they must cancel my existing line and tell me the costs occurred. I dont think it is fair that I have to still pay the rental of old line for another month. Telkom is being greedy and not fair as i took another line so its not like im cancelling and leaving Telkom. I should not be paying rental for 2 phone lines, the decent thing isto just allow me to pay for my usage for the up until cancellation day. GREEDY TELKOM.
