I took out a Sony xperia z 1 cellphone on a pricey contract. I explained to the sales lady I need a strong and durable business phone. She recommended the Sony xperia Z 1 as it is waterproof etc etc. Turns out the back cover and the screen are made of virtually 1mm thin glass. Within the first two weeks my back cover had shattered in my pocket leaving me with shards of paper thin glass to fish out. Within a month the screen has cracked and I have no idea how it happened, woke up to check the time and noticed it was cracked.
When I went to Vodacom The Glen the first time i stood in a queue for 20 minutes and left. The second time i stood for another 20 minutes before being "helped". I raised my concerns with the manager who was not understanding and started with the "customer negligence" speech. I left and have since taken this up directly with Sony and hope for a better response. I have been renewing my contracts with Vodacom The Glen since they opened and will never do so again and will make sure my families contracts are also renewed elsewhere. As for the Sony xperia z 1 its two pieces of 1mm thick glass stuck together back to back.
