I have had a Telkom line for close to 3 years now & would like to cancel it. I also have an ADSL line but my provider is Vitality Broadband. I visited the Telkom branch at Fourways Crossing on Jan 25, 2014, to cancel my account because I am relocating. However, I was told they couldn't help me with cancellation & that I would have to phone Telkom's Customer Care. Why is it that difficult to close an account at a branch especially when it was so easy to open an account at this same branch?
After being on the phone for about 25 minutes, I finally got through & was told they couldn't help me with cancellation as I had an ADSL line as well. I was asked to cancel this first & only then would they be able to cancel my account. I informed them that I had already canceled my ADSL line. I phoned Vitality Broadband to confirm this & was told that they canceled the line with immediate effect.
I was back on the line with Customer Care today & they still can't help me because they say the ADSL line is still active! I phoned Vitality Broadband again & confirmed that they did indeed cancel the line last week. A week later, I am just running around in circles. Seems they just want to bill me!
