I bought a 8ta cellphone contract in 2012 at R200 pm. The phone, a Nokia Lumia, has worked for only one month! My account has been debited EVERY MONTH WITHOUT FAIL!! Despite the fact that I cannot use the sim card at all. I have called so many times and gone to the branch in Wonderpark, Pretoria to try and get the number activated. To make matters worse, I then found out that somebody else was using the number that I was given on this contract. I was advised to do a sim swap- this worked for only two months afterwhich it again just died. To get my money reversered I was told to provide bank statements to prove that I was being charged every month for a service that I am not receiving - does 8ta not keep record of the people they charge? This is my second last attempt to get this matter resolved and by that I mean the following: 1. Reverse all monies taken since 2012 and 2. Cancel my contract with immediate effect. Should my requests not be fulfilled after this, my next step will be the ombudsman and a report to the National Consumer Commision.
