I have a R399 contract with MTN on my husband's name, MR NEVLYN CHETTY
On the 17th August 2013, I upgraded my cell phone to the Samsung S4
& On the 31st August 2013, 2 weeks later I received an sms from MTN stating that I had used 90% of credit limit of R5250.00. I queried my account at the La Lucia MTN branch & was given a reference number: 103595201 to call their call centre The consultant at MTN call centre, Beryl Vithaldas, stated that have I an open account (which we were not aware of) therefore was billed accordingly & that MTN decides or have authority to limit or restrict clients account & it was my duty to check my account to ensure I do not exceed my limit. I have also logged an account dispute on MTN's website on Friday 06.09.2013 - No response received to date. My dispute: How can MTN increase this open account limit to R5250.00 without notifying me. This is exorbitant fee to be levied on an individual. MTN does not know my commitments to decide my account or should have advised when contract limit is reached
In the last 5 years my average account billing has not exceeded more than R500.00 pm
Should MTN not rectify this account, I will close this account
