I would like to know, why it is, that a Telkom shop in Rosebank will not accept payment for Telkom accounts while a Telkom shop in Cape Town does. If you wish to pay your account at Rosebank, and you do not have an account with you, you are in deep trouble! You first have to stand in a queue to get a print out of your account, then you are told to go and pay at the post office or Pick n Pay (stand in a queue) then, should your line be suspended - you have to go back to the Telkom shop and give them the receipt so they can update their records! Within the shop, there is no indication that this is the system they work on - you find out all this at the counter! When I ask why this is, only at Rosebank it seems, I'm told - oh, they want us to just concentrate on sales! I ask - who is they??? I'm told the CEO of Telkom!

Logic tells me, and I'm sure any marketing guru would agree. You are competing against the likes of Vodacom - selling cellphone contracts. You have customers using a fixed line service and may need to pay their account manually. Instead of encouraging people to come into your shop, and perhaps seen the deals, you are chasing them away. Telkom will stay third world!
