I bought my Sony Xperia Z1 from the MTN retail centre in Woodmead. After having the phone for 2 weeks I decided to try the waterproof feature and now my phone is damaged! Upon taking it to MTN for repairs I was told that the phone is actually water resistant and not water proof - advertising of this product says otherwise- and since it has now been damaged they cite liquid damage and have refused to repair it under warranty. I was advised to take the phone directly to Sony, after going from their Midrand office, I called their call centre where I was told to take the phone to a repair centre in Boksburg, SSS Cellular Repairs and they have told me they also will not fix the phone under warranty.
I am now very irritated that this waterproof promise is not held up by Sony, am stuck with a contract for this phone that none of the suppliers want to honour a warranty for. I will be lodging a complaint with the ASA as this is purely false advertising on Sony's part. I want them to provide me a repair for this phone.
