Sony Xperia Z1 advertised as waterproof up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Good sales pitch but can they really put their money where their mouth is. Had my Z1 for a month, love the phone. So I decided to test the waterproof feature. What a mistake! Although all flaps were closed some liquid came into the phone (phone was about 20cm under the water for the time it takes to take a photo). The fallout was that the accelerometer stopped working. Took it to Vodacom but started to get entangled in red tape. Vodacom claimed liquid damage. My statement was that the phone is supposed to be waterproof so if it has liquid damage then the phone is faulty as it is not waterproof. They escalated the matter only to come back to me again, this time with the statement that it was chemical damage. It sound more and more as if Sony cannot back their flagship phone. My phone has now been in for 2.5 weeks and I'm starting to get annoyed. Sony, please sort this out. Do not advertise a phone to be waterproof and not be willing to sort out the associated risk that goes with this.
