I have previously purchased Sony's Xperia V which is a water resistant phone.
Sony has many adverts on their website and on "Youtube" the Sony Xperia V has fallen in fish bowls "as per advert on the website" and had the phone covered in dust by a Van/Vehicle passing by in the advert and then rinsing the phone off "also on a clip on the website" by just watching those adverts me "as the customer" views this phone as waterproof/water resistant and dust proof and I quote "as per IPX5, IPX6 and IPX7 stated on User Guide" "This means that the device is dust protected and is protected against the effects of immersion and low pressure water stream".
I have had a situation since I've purchased the phone where it was on a flat surface when a jar of water fell over on the surface, onto and around my phone, and water damaged the phone. Vodacom SA repair centre has assessed it and cannot repair it under the warrantee and cannot repair it period, my insurance has approved the claim but I have paid an access of R2500 to get a new phone which is ridiculous and I need to be compensated for it as I bought the phone for it water resistant feature.
SONY has done nothing about this after enquiring
