I signed up for a new contract with Vodacom on Thursday 19 December 2013. I requested that my MTN number be ported to Vodacom, and I was assured that this would not be a problem. Except I was not made aware that the process started with me calling MTN to arrange this, I was led to believe that it would all be taken care of by Anele.
After hearing nothing and doing the following up myself, I was eventually informed that I should call MTN to arrange the porting, which I did. I was then assured by someone in the porting department that my number would be active by midnight on Tuesday the 24th December 2013. This, of course, never happened.
I just spoke to Dylan now, who is a senior manager in the porting department, who again assured me that my number would be activated this evening.
I think I made a huge mistake trying to port to Vodacom, and the level of incompetence at both shop level and at the call centre is incredible!!! Now I need to get out of this contract and would like someone to help me with my options, because I believe Vodacom has failed to perform their side of the agreement.
