Cancellation of contract wont end

A while back i had made a request to cancel my account at vodacom and they accepted my request and asked that i pay a subminimum inorder to ensure cancellation. with out any hesitation, the settlement amount was paid and to my knowledge i was done with owing vodacom. surprise surprise i recieve a call from a vodacom agent requesting a pay my account because it is in arrrears. i couldnt believe my ears because i was appalled by the news. the amount i paid was more than three months ago. i am now viewed as someone with a bad credit record and i am not impressed with vodacoms service.
