Premature Cancelling of Contract Disaster!!

I decided to consolidate my debt and requested to settle my cell contract. They gave me a premature cancellation quote which I had 3 days to settle. I then called Vodacom the cancellation department twice to confirm (You can check my voice recordings as they claim to be recorded) that the amount stated on the cancellation quote would be the last amount I have to pay for this cell number. In total I called Vodacom 4 times. To my surprise I received a statement of over R1000.00 for my cancelled number which is currently on pre-paid. I called in and tried to explain that the account had been settled. I got through to a rude man who advised me that the debit order will go through as they have my banking details and there is nothing I can do to stop them. Needless to say I had to close my Absa bank account just to ensure money was not taken. I have since then logged a query/complain with vodacom who have failed to contact me within 24hrs as pr their sms. When I try call in to explain as I do not want their error to affect my credit rating surprise surprise I get though to an uneducated representative who once again has no clue what I am talking about. WHY USE VODACOM??
